Two African-American suspects, each carrying backpacks, entered CVS on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square at approximately 2:48 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, police said. After being confronted by a store employee, one of the subjects displayed a silver handgun before both men left the store.
Police said that the two suspects were then seen entering a white SUV that was waiting for them in the parking lot before fleeing the scene.
The first male suspect was described as being approximately 6-foot-1, with a thin build and a beard. He was wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The second suspect was approximately 5-foot-7, and he was wearing a white baseball cap, light-colored sweatshirt, a puffy vest jacket and wore eyeglasses at the time of the robbery.
Less than an hour later, at 3:37 a woman entered 7-Eleven on South Franklin Street in Hempstead, approached the counter while displaying a silver handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
According to police, after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, she fled the store and was seen entering a white SUV that was occupied by the second African American suspect implicated in the CVS robbery.
The woman was described as wearing a white hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, a white shirt, and blue pants.
The investigation into the armed robberies is ongoing. Anyone with information has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
